6 Best Podcasts for Self Improvement and Personal Growth

The podcast scene is booming.

There are over 2 million podcasts worldwide and whilst that’s not a patch on the 51+ million YouTube channels worldwide, it’s still a heck of a lot.

From comedy podcasts and murder mysteries, to sleep stories and film reviews, there’s a podcast for everyone.

My favourite genre though are podcasts for confidence building or self improvement.

I know the impact the content I consume can have on my mental health so I ensure that on a daily basis, I’m filling my mind with stuff that’ll make me feel good. I try to avoid the news and I limit my time on social media, opting instead to read on platforms like Medium or listen to podcasts.

The best thing about podcasts is that you can listen to them on the go. You don’t have to set aside time specifically to complete them, like you do with a book, and you don’t have to pay much attention to watching what’s happening as you do with YouTube videos.

I listen when I’m in the shower, when cooking dinner, cleaning the bathroom and especially when I’m on a long train journey as it makes the time pass quickly.

Here are 6 of the best self improvement podcasts I’ve found so far:

Confidently She with Rebekah Buege

With a heavy focus on improving body image and building body confidence, this podcast was one of the first I ever listened to.

I love how Rebekah’s empowering women to love themselves for who they are and to feel happy in their own skin.

We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle

I first came across Glennon when I listened to her book Untamed on Audible*. The book had been following me around online until I gave in and used my monthly credit to download it. I finished it within two days.

I learned something from every chapter so when she launched her podcast in 2021, I started listening. The guest interviews often touch on subjects that make you think differently and encourage you to see things through other people’s eyes. This allows you to have more self awareness, more compassion and expand your thinking.

The conversation flows well between Glennon, her wife Abby and her sister Amanda. They’re not afraid to speak openly and honestly and the vulnerability is refreshing.

The Confidence Show

I launched The Confidence Show a month before the pandemic in 2020 with the intention of uploading episodes specifically about creating more confidence. We touch on subjects like how to stop comparing yourself to others, how to be more confident in yourself and how to overcome imposter syndrome.

It was always important to me that The Confidence Show was an inclusive place where people could come and feel less alone, which is why I openly share my struggles with anxiety + ADHD and talk about the things I’m finding hard.

The Confidence Show is an inspiring place to be and each episode will leave you feeling  empowered, confident, reassured or all three.

Saturn Returns with Caggie

Caggie Dunlop appeared on the first 3 seasons of Made in Chelsea and since leaving, has started a career as both a singer and a podcast host. She launched Saturn Returns in 2020 which is probably one of the more spiritual podcasts in this list.

Covering topics like the Chakra system, manifestation, finding your purpose and living by the moon, Saturn Returns gives you a new perspective and helps you connect back to yourself on a deeper level.

Changes with Annie Macmanus

Over lockdown I became a huge fan of Radio 1, but it wasn’t until her last few shows that I really tuned into Annie Mac. I thought she was a great DJ so when I was sharing about my recent ADHD discovery and a friend recommended an episode of the Changes podcast featuring Toddla T, who talks about his journey with ADHD, I subscribed instantly.

I’ve since listened to multiple episodes including the conversation with Sam Smith, Katie Price and Billie Piper. I love the way the conversation flows, the vulnerability of the guests and the changes they share that they’ve experienced throughout their lives.

And She Rises

And She Rises (the fuck up) is the podcast from the money queen herself, Amanda Frances. In the months before I signed up to Money Mentality Makeover, I binged Amanda’s blog posts, YouTube videos, social content and podcast.

I’ve since replaced listening to the podcast on repeat with listening to the MMM course on repeat because the energy you get from listening to Amanda is second to none. If you’re looking to dramatically improve your money mindset, upgrade your financial situation and welcome in massive levels of abundance, this is the podcast for you.
