5 REASONS YOU'RE NOT SIGNING CLIENTS AS A SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Ready to talk about why you’re not converting leads into paying clients?

If you’re attracting leads and receiving enquiries into your inbox but you’re struggling to convert them into paying clients, chances are, it’s for one of these 5 reasons.

When I became a social media manager in 2017, I had enquiry after enquiry land in my inbox. The truth was, I was great at organically attracting clients through the content I shared but I sucked at converting them into paying clients.

Time and time again, I’d be met with a “I’ll leave it for now” email or worse, once I’d sent off the proposal I spent hours working on, I’d be ghosted completely.

Making a few small tweaks, the ones I’m sharing with you in the video below, soon meant that I started converting more of the leads landing in my inbox into paying clients.

If you want to know how to get more clients as a social media manager, watch the video below or read the summary I’ve written for you underneath and make the same tweaks in your business.

1: Your proposals are too complicated

I get it. You want to deliver a proposal that blows your potential client away. A proposal that screams “I’m the best person for you!”. A proposal that showcases how much you have to offer so they have no option but to say a big HELL YES.

The problem is, when you give them too many options, your proposal becomes overwhelming. Business owners are busy people. They want simple.

If they’ve come to you for social media support, they most likely fall into one of two categories:

A) They don’t have a clue about social media and therefore don’t know what package would be best for them

B) They’re too busy in their business to handle socials and therefore don’t want to spend ages going back + forth about what package would suit them

The goal with your proposals is to get a yes or no answer.

If they say yes, CELEBRATE!

If they say no, you can discuss how to make it a yes.

2: You’re not confident in your pricing

You have to believe that your offer is worth the price you’ve put on it. If you don’t, potential clients will be able to tell and if they sense you’re not confident in your price, they’ll think you’re not confident in the results you can get them.

Nobody wants to hire someone who lacks confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Being confident in your price isn’t about the amount you’re charging. It’s about believing you’re worthy of receiving that amount, knowing you can get your clients results and trusting that dream clients will happily pay you that much.

3: You’re not following up

I always hated the idea of following up with people after a sales conversation because I didn’t want to be one of those pushy salesmen who forces someone into making a decision they didn’t want to make.

But, as we mentioned before, business owners are busy people and sometimes, they need a gentle nudge or reminder that you’re there to help them grow their business. When you work with them, you’ll not only make their life easier but you’ll also help them attract more clients/customers. They need you and not following up to remind them about how you can help them, is a disservice to them.

I like to follow up in 5-7 days after sending the initial proposal.

4: You don’t believe they’re going to say yes

What you believe becomes your reality so if you’re telling yourself they’re not going to sign up with you - consciously or subconsciously - you won’t hear the yes you want.

As with confidence, if you don’t believe in yourself, potential clients will be able to tell. How can you expect them to believe you’re the right person for the job when you don’t believe it yourself?

5: Maybe they just changed their mind…

Something that no one ever says: maybe they just changed their mind. Their circumstances could’ve changed or they might’ve got on better with someone else. Whatever their reason is for not going with you, instead of letting it impact you, use that energy to attract a new lead.

Focus your attention on building relationships, sharing valuable content and working on increasing your self belief.

To recap the 5 reasons you’re not signing clients as a social media manager:

  • Your proposals are too complicated

  • You’re not confident in your pricing

  • You’re not following up

  • You don’t believe they’re going to say yes

  • Maybe they just changed their mind…
